Henrik von Eckermann (born 25 May 1981) is a Swedish Olympicshow jumping rider.[1][2] He has competed at fourSummer Olympics (in2012,2016,2020 and2024). His best individual Olympic placements came in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo when he won gold in theteam and placed 4th in theindividual competition.

Career

Von Eckermann participated at the2014 World Equestrian Games and at fourEuropean Show Jumping Championships (in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015). He won a team bronze at the 2013 Europeans held inHerning,Denmark. Meanwhile, his current best individual result is 5th place from the 2011 European Championships. Henrik also participated at three editions of theShow Jumping World Cup finals (in 2013, 2016, and 2017). His biggest success came in 2017, when he placed 3rd in the finals, behindMcLain Ward andRomain Duguet.

Von Eckermann is descended from the von Eckermann family, aSwedish unintroduced noble family, ennobled inRussia and originally fromMecklenburg.[citation needed]

He married Swiss showjumperJanika Sprunger in 2022. Together they have a son born in 2021.[3] They own stables inKessel, Netherlands. Von Eckermann was previously based nearBonn, Germany.[4][5]

He is related to the Swedish women's rights activistEbba von Eckermann (1866–1960).
