Henology (from Ancient Greek ἕν (hen) 'one') is thephilosophical account or discourse onthe One that appears most notably in the philosophy ofPlotinus.[1]
Henology stands in contradistinction to several other philosophical disciplines. The termhenology refers to the discipline that centers around the One, as in the philosophies ofPlato andPlotinus. It is sometimes used in contradistinction to disciplines that treatbeing as their starting point (as inAristotle andAvicenna), and also to those that seek to understandknowledge andtruth (as inKant andDescartes).[2]
