Blood cell protein found in sea organisms

Hemovanadin is a pale greenvanabin protein found in theblood cells, calledvanadocytes, ofascidians (sea squirts) and other organisms (particularly sea organisms).^[1] It is one of the few knownvanadium-containingproteins.^[2]^[3] The German chemist Martin Henze first detected vanadium inascidians (sea squirts) in 1911.^[4]^[5] Unlikehemocyanin andhemoglobin, hemovanadin is not anoxygen carrier.^[6]^[7]
