Online help is a form ofuser assistance that provides topic-oriented, procedural or reference information designed to assist in using asoftware application,web application oroperating system. Online help linked to the application's state (what the user is doing) is calledContext-sensitive help.
The help information can be created usinghelp authoring tools orcomponent content management systems and can be delivered in a wide variety ofproprietary andopen-standard formats. Help of this kind has largely replaced printeddocumentation.
Interactive help can also be provided viavirtual assistants andChatbot systems.
Microsoft develops platforms for delivering help systems for theMicrosoft Windows operating system.
