Helen Serafinowicz is an English writer and television producer.
Serafinowicz started out as a producer onCartoon Network.[1]
Serafinowicz created and co-wrote the musical science-fiction television seriesNova Jones, about an 18-year-old popstar on a concert tour throughout the galaxy. The show ran for three series and aired onCBBC.[2][3]
From 2016 to 2022, Serafinowicz was part of the writing team of the BBC comedy seriesMotherland, withGraham Linehan,Sharon Horgan,Holly Walsh andBarunka O'Shaughnessy.[1] In 2022, the team won a Bafta for Best Scripted Comedy for the third series of the show.[1]
Serafinowicz previously ran an interior decor shop named Stubenhocker in Norwich.[1] She closed the shop in 2020 to focus on her writing.[4]
In 2024, the BBC commissionedAmandaland, a spin-off series from seriesMotherland. Co-created and written by Serafinowicz,Amandaland, the show follows character Amanda who moves to a new community following her divorce.[5]
In 2025, Serafinowicz wroteThe Legend of Rooney's Ring, a musical comedy about professional football playerWayne Rooney and his wifeColeen Rooney.[6]
Serafinowicz was born in Liverpool,[7] and is the sister of actor and comedianPeter Serafinowicz. She is the ex-wife of comedy writer and anti-transgender activistGraham Linehan.[8] She has two children.[9]
