Hassan Khalid Hassan Al-Haydos (Arabic:حَسَن خَالِد حَسَن الْهَيْدُوس; born 11 December 1990) is a Qatari professionalfootballer who plays as aforward for andcaptainsQatar Stars League clubAl Sadd and theQatar national team.

Al-Haydos started playing football forAl Sadd at the age of eight, advancing through the ranks until he reached the first team at age seventeen. He had support and guidance early on fromJafal Rashed Al-Kuwari.[4]

He was one of the players to take a penalty kick in the penalty-shootout againstJeonbuk in the2011 AFC Champions League, scoring after the ball deflected off the top post. The victory ensured Al Sadd would earn a place in theFIFA Club World Cup as the representative for Asia. In the third-place match between Al Sadd andKashiwa Reysol, he was again selected to take one of the penalty kicks after the match had ended 0–0. The penalty shoot-out was won by Al Sadd 5–3.[5]

He was voted as the 'Best Qatari Player' in 2014 in a poll conducted byDoha Stadium, receiving 58 out of 104 votes from a panel of analysts, coaches and administrators.[6]

International career

Al-Haydos made his debut for theQatar Olympic team in 2007, coming off the bench to score a late goal againstJapan in the2008 Summer Olympic Qualifiers in order to help his team salvage a 2–1 win.[7] He featured in two other matches in the competition, one againstSaudi Arabia,[8] and one againstVietnam, where he scored a goal;[9] both as second-half substitutes. He also played a large part in the2012 Summer Olympic Qualifiers as the captain, scoring a goal againstIndia in the preliminary stage.[10] He played all the matches in the group stage, scoring a goal againstOman,[11] and one against Saudi Arabia after being set up bySaleh Badr to give Qatar a 2–1 win and hope for qualifying for the Olympics.[12] He won theMan of the Match award.[13]

Al-Haydos made his debut for the seniorQatar national team in a2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying match againstBahrain on 10 September 2008.[14][15]

Al Haydos participated in the2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the2019 Copa América as part of Qatar national team's preparation for the2022 FIFA World Cup. On November 20, 2022, Al Haydos played his first ever World Cup match againstEcuador, which was also Qatar's first ever match in the competition.[16]

After winning 2 Asian Cups as captain, in2019 and2023, Al Haydos announced his retirement from International football on March 16, 2024.[17] He made183 appearances and scored 41 goals for the national side, making him the most capped Qatari footballer ever and one of the highest top scorers.

In July 2025, Al-Haydos returned to theQatar national team and participated in the team's training camp in Europe to prepare for theAFC third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.[18]
