Having come up throughFulham's academy, Elliott made hisfirst-team debut in September 2018, becoming the youngest player to play in theEFL Cup, aged 15 years and 174 days.
Harvey Daniel James Elliott[3] was born on 4 April 2003[4] inChertsey, Surrey.[5] He was interested infootball from a young age and grew up supportingLiverpool.[6] His father, Scott, would tutor him so he could develop a professional attitude towards training.[7] Elliott joinedQueens Park Rangers' youth academy at an early age,[7] after having been turned down byChelsea for being "too small".[8]
Elliott was signed byFulham's academy at under-18 level. He made hisfirst-team debut for Fulham on 25 September 2018 as a 15-year-old in theEFL Cup third round away toMillwall, as an 81st-minutesubstitute forFloyd Ayité in a 3–1 win.[9][10][11] He had been atCoombe Boys' School inNew Malden, Greater London earlier that day and was back at school the next morning.[11] At 15 years and 174 days old, he became the club's youngest ever first-team player and the youngest to ever play in the competition.[12][13]
On 4 May 2019, Elliott made his Premier League debut, coming on as a 88th-minute substitute forAndré-Frank Zambo Anguissa in a 1–0 away defeat toWolverhampton Wanderers. In doing so, he became the youngest ever Premier League player at the time, at 16 years and 30 days old, beating the then-record set in 2007 by fellow Fulham playerMatthew Briggs.[14] Elliott held the record until 18 September 2022, when it was broken byArsenal playerEthan Nwaneri.[15]
Elliott signed for Premier League club Liverpool on 28 July 2019 for an undisclosed fee.[16][17] He made his debut for the club on 25 September in that season'sEFL Cup match againstMilton Keynes Dons.[18] At the age of 16 years and 174 days, he became the youngest-ever player to start a match for the club, and second-youngest to feature in a competitive fixture behindJerome Sinclair.[19] The following month, during the team's 5–4penalty shoot-out (after a 5–5 draw afterextra time) win over Arsenal in the next round of the competition, Elliott became the youngest player to start a match at Liverpool's home ground,Anfield, at the age of 16 years and 209 days.[20] In October 2019, Elliott was subject to a 14 day suspension after social media footage emerged of him mocking Tottenham Hotspur player Harry Kane, using terms used to mock disabled people; he was also fined, and had to undergo sensitivity training.He made his Premier League debut for Liverpool on 2 January 2020, replacingMohamed Salah one minute before the final whistle in a 2–0 home win againstSheffield United.[21]
Elliott signed his first professional contract with Liverpool on 6 July 2020.[22][23][24] On 10 February 2021, the independent Professional Football Compensation Committee ordered Liverpool to compensate Fulham an undisclosed amount for Elliott's transfer. Liverpool confirmed the fee as £1.5 million, plus £2.8 million in bonuses.[25] The fee was a record for a then-16 year old.[26]
In October 2020, Elliott joinedChampionship clubBlackburn Rovers on a season-longloan.[27][28] He made his league debut for Blackburn in their 3–1 away loss toWatford on 21 October.[29] He scored his first goal for the club in their 4–0 away win againstCoventry City on 24 October.[30]
In April 2021, Elliott was nominated for theEFL Young Player of the Season award,[31] which was eventually won byReading playerMichael Olise.[32] He finished the2020–21 season with 7 goals and 11 assists.[33] He also was awarded Blackburn's Goal of the Season for his strike against Millwall in December 2020.[34] He returned to Liverpool after the Championship season ended in May 2021.[35][36]
Elliott signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool on 9 July 2021.[37][38] He made his full Premier League debut for Liverpool on 21 August, starting and playing the whole match in a 2–0 win againstBurnley.[39]
On 12 September 2021, Elliottdislocated hisankle in a challenge withLeeds United defenderPascal Struijk in a 3–0 away league win.[40][41] Following the injury, Liverpool confirmed that he would require surgery.[42][43] On 14 September, Elliott underwent successful surgery in London, with the club remaining hopeful that he would make a return before the end of the2021–22 season.[44]
Elliott returned to the Liverpool squad on 6 February 2022 in a fourth round FA Cup match againstCardiff City, coming on as a substitute in the 58th minute and scoring his first Liverpool goal in a 3–1 Liverpool victory.[45] On 16 February, he made hisUEFA Champions League debut, being named in the starting line-up for around of 16 tie against Italian giantsInter Milan. He played 60 minutes before being replaced byNaby Keïta.[46]
Elliott came on in the 79th minute of the2022 EFL Cup final for captainJordan Henderson and played the remaining minutes of the game, including the entirety of extra time. The game finished 0–0 and Elliott scored the 9th penalty for his side in the resulting shootout, which they won 11–10, to lift their first EFL Cup in 10 years.[47] Liverpool narrowly missed out on the chance to achieve a historic quadruple, coming second in the2021–22 Premier League and theChampions League but winning both theEFL Cup and theFA Cup.[48]

On 27 August 2022, Elliott scored his first Premier League goal for Liverpool in a9–0 win againstAFC Bournemouth.[49][50] He became a regular in the first team, deputising for Jordan Henderson in the captain's absence, and won plaudits for his "exceptional" performance againstNewcastle United.[51]
On 12 October 2022, Elliott scored his first Champions League goal when he scored the rebound fromDiogo Jota's deflected effort in a 7–1 win againstRangers.[52] He then scored his second Champions League goal just two weeks later, notching the third in a 3–0 away win overAjax at theJohan Cruyff Arena to help Liverpool qualify for the knockout stage.[53] At the end of the2022–23 season, Liverpool narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification.[54]
Elliott became a first-team regular for Liverpool in the2023–24 season.[4] He helped the team win theEFL Cup in that season.[55][56]
On 5 March 2025, Elliott came on for Mohamed Salah in the 86th minute[57] and scored the winning goal just 47 seconds after coming off the bench againstParis Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.[58] Although the team were eliminated in the return leg atAnfield, Elliott won his first Premier League title with Liverpool a month later.
On 1 September 2025, Elliott signed for fellow Premier League clubAston Villa on an initial season-long loan with an obligation to buy.[59] It was reported that the agreed permanent transfer would cost £35 million, including sell-on and buy-back clauses.[60] On 13 September, he made his debut as a 71st minute substitute forEmiliano Buendía in a 0–0 draw atEverton in thePremier League.[61] Three days later, he made his first start for Aston Villa, scoring the opening goal in anEFL Cup third round tie away toBrentford which ended in a penalty shootout defeat.[62]
Elliott was included in the England under-17 squad for the 2019 Syrenka Cup,[65] afriendly tournament usually held in preparation forUEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying.[65] Elliott helped the England under-17 team to the title on 10 September 2019 by scoring the opening goal of the final fromthe spot in a 2–2 draw with hostsPoland beforeKevin Betsy's Young Lions won 3–1 after a penalty shoot-out.[66]
In June 2025, Elliott was included in the England squad for2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, scoring England's first goal of the tournament in their opening match, a 3–1 win against theCzech Republic.[71] He scored both England goals in their 2–1 semi-final victory against theNetherlands as the team reached the final.[72] On 28 June 2025, Elliott played in the2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final, scoring England's opening goal againstGermany in a 3–2 victory. Elliott was named Player of the Tournament, having scored five goals in the tournament.[73]
Elliott is a lifelong fan of Liverpool and attended the2018 Champions League final in Kyiv with his father, Scott.[74] He is also a fan of theNBA, supporting theBoston Celtics, and has attended several of their games.[75]
Eliott is a close friend of former teammate and currentBrentford playerFábio Carvalho, having attended the same school and come through the Fulham academy together, later advising him to join Liverpool.[76] He also considersMohamed Salah to be a friend and mentor, with the Egyptian forward guiding him during the2021–22 season and advising him on his diet and exercise regimen.[77]
