Harutzim (Hebrew:חָרוּצִים,lit. 'Diligents') is acommunity settlement in central Israel. Located in theSharon plain nearRa'anana, it falls under the jurisdiction ofHof HaSharon Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 916.[1]
Before the 20th century the area formed part of the Forest of Sharon. It was an open woodland dominated byMount Tabor Oak, which extended fromKfar Yona in the north toRa'anana in the south. The local Arab inhabitants traditionally used the area for pasture, firewood and intermittent cultivation. The intensification of settlement and agriculture in thecoastal plain during the 19th century led to deforestation and subsequentenvironmental degradation.[2]
The village was established in 1951. Its name is taken from a biblical verse;[3] (Proverbs 10:4): "The hand of the diligents makes rich."
