Harrison Wilson (born 22 November 1999) is an Australian professionalrugby union player who plays as anumber eight forSuper Rugby clubQueensland Reds and is the current captain of theAustralia national team.[1]

Club career

In the 2020COVID-19-interrupted Super Rugby season, Wilson made his senior debut for the Queensland Reds against theBrumbies inCanberra, starting at number eight.[2][3] Wilson scored his first Reds try in the 77th minute set up a grandstand finish, but the Reds ultimately lost 27–24.[4]

International career

Wilson made hisWallabies debut on 11 October 2020, starting on the blindside flank in a 16–16 draw withNew Zealand.[5]

On 2 September 2023, Wilson made his debut for theBarbarians in a 48–12 victory overNorthampton Saints atFranklin’s Gardens, coming off the bench in the second half.[6][7]

Five days later, on 7 September, he made his first start for the side in a 52–26 win over theBristol Bears atAshton Gate, playing at number eight.[8][9] He scored two tries in the first half, which were his first tries for the Barbarians.[10]

Wilson made his fourth and final appearance for the Barbarians on 28 October 2023, starting in a 51–21 victory againstHarlequins atTwickenham Stoop.[11][12]

After being omitted fromEddie Jones'Rugby World Cup squad in 2023, Wilson was reselected underJoe Schmidt for 2024. He captained the Wallabies for the first time against Argentina during the2024 Rugby Championship, which ended in a 19-20 win.[13]

On 9 November 2024, Wilson scored his first try for Australia in a 42–37 victory over England atTwickenham during theAutumn Nations Series.[14] His try in the 34th minute contributed to a comeback win, with the Wallabies securing the match in added time.[15]

Wilson captained the Wallabies in all three tests against theBritish and Irish Lions in 2025.[16][17] In August 2025, he captained the side and scored two tries in a 38–22 victory overSouth Africa, having been 22–0 down the first quarter, during the opening fixture of the2025 Rugby Championship, ending a 62 year losing streak atEllis Park Stadium.[18]
