Harold Phipps (15 January 1916 – 2000) was an English professionalfootballer who played as acentre half.
Born inDartford, Phipps started his professional career during the Second World War, withCharlton Athletic. During the war he also made guest appearances forChelsea andFulham.[1] Following the resumption of theFootball League in 1946, Phipps made 185 league appearances for Charlton, scoring twice.[2] He is perhaps better known for his appearances in theFA Cup; he was a losing finalist with Charlton in1946, and was part of their cup-winning team in thefollowing year's final. Phipps joinedWatford in 1952, and went on to make 47 appearances in theThird Division South, scoring twice. He later player-managed non-league sideBexleyheath & Welling.[1][2]
