Hare-abian Nights is a 1959Warner Bros.Merrie Melodies cartoon directed byKen Harris ofChuck Jones' unit, and animated by Harris andBen Washam.[1] The short was released on February 28, 1959, and starsBugs Bunny andYosemite Sam.[2]

Plot

In anArabian palace, a band called Timbuk Two Plus 3 fails to impress the Sultan and ends up in acrocodile pit. An Elvis-like musician suffers the same fate. Bugs Bunny, having gotten lost on his way toPerth Amboy, is ordered to entertain the Sultan. Bugs recounts his adventures, including outsmarting a bull, a monster named Rudolph, and Yosemite Sam. It is later revealed that the Sultan is actually Yosemite Sam himself. Bugs tricks Sam into falling into the crocodile pit and escapes, mocking Sam's misfortune.

Hare-Abian Nights recycles footage fromBully for Bugs (1953),Water, Water Every Hare (1952) andSahara Hare (1955).

The title of the short is a pun on "Arabian Nights" and spoofs theOne Thousand and One Nights series offolk tales.
