Harald Weyel (born 30 August 1959) is a German politician. Born inHerborn, Hesse, he representsAlternative for Germany. Harald Weyel has served as a member of theBundestag from the state ofNorth Rhine-Westphalia since 2017.
Weyel is the son of anAfrican-American soldier and acook from theWesterwald. One year after his birth, his father left the family and returned toRaleigh, North Carolina.[1]
He became member of the Bundestag after the2017 German federal election.[2] He is a member of the Committee on European Union Affairs. He voted against a resolution in the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe which determined that forced detention and deportation of children fromRussian occupied territories of Ukraine is “genocide”, the sole parliamentarian to do so.[3]
