Harald Rittersbacher (born 27 April 1963) is a former professionaltennis player from Germany.
Born inLudwigshafen, Rittersbacher played collegiate tennis in the United States forTexas Christian University in the early 1980s.[1]
Rittersbacher, a right-handed player, made his grand slam main draw debut at the1986 French Open in the men's doubles withAnthony Emerson. At the1987 Wimbledon Championships he and partnerRussell Barlow faced top seedsGuy Forget andYannick Noah for a first round loss. He made his third and final grand slam appearance in the mixed doubles withMarise Kruger at the1988 French Open.
On theGrand Prix circuit he made most of his appearances in doubles, making several quarter-finals.
He won his onlyChallenger title in 1989, which came in the doubles atMontabaur in his home country.[2]
Now a tennis coach, Rittersbacher was formerly based in Mannheim, the birthplace ofSteffi Graf, who had him as a hitting partner for several years.[3] He was later an assistant coach for the tennis team atHawaii Pacific University.[4]
