
Haniel (Hebrew:חַנִּיאֵל,Ḥannīʾēl, "God is my grace";Coptic:ⲁⲛⲁⲛⲓⲏⲗAnaniēl;[1]Arabic:أنانيال,'Anya'il), also known asHananel, Anael,Hanael orAniel, is anangel inJewish lore and angelology, and is often included in lists as being one of theseven archangels.[2] Haniel is generally associated with the planetVenus, and is the archangel of thesephirahNetzach. The name Haniel derives from the HebrewḤēn (חֵן), meaning "grace, favour, charm"[3] (qualities associated with Venus) + the suffix-ʾĒl, "God". It is equivalent to thePhoenician nameHannibal. Haniel is one of the archangels encrypted in theSigillum Dei Aemeth of Dr.John Dee andEdward Kelley.[4] Haniel is associated with joy.[5]
