Hamra is a populated area, asocken (not to be confused withparish), on the Swedish island ofGotland.[3] It comprises the same area as theadministrative Hamra District, established on 1 January 2016.[4]
Hamra is situated on the southeastern tip of Gotland.[5] ThemedievalHamra Church is located in the socken.[6] The small Vändburg harbor and Hammarhage Hällarsea stack area are also in Hamra.[7][8] Hamra has given its name to theHamra formation, one of theSiluriansedimentary rock formations which make up Gotland.[9]
As of 2019[update], Hamra Church belongs to Hoburgparish in Sudretspastorat, along with the churches inÖja,Vamlingbo,Sundre andFide.[10][11]
