Hallie K. Biden (néeOlivere; born July 6, 1973) is an American school counselor, non-profit executive, and member of theBiden family. She worked as a school counselor at theTatnall School inWilmington, Delaware and atArchmere Academy inClaymont, Delaware. In 2002, she marriedBeau Biden, a son of 46th U.S. PresidentJoe Biden andNeilia Hunter Biden. They lived in Wilmington while her husband served as theAttorney General of Delaware.

After her husband's death fromglioblastoma in 2015, Biden became the chairwoman of the board of directors for theBeau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children.

She received media attention and scrutiny for her romantic relationship with Beau's brotherHunter Biden from 2016 to 2019.

Biden was born on July 6, 1973, inGreenville, Delaware, to Louis Ronald "Ron" Olivere and Joan Berger (1945–2022).^[1][2][3] Her mother, who was a childhood friend ofJoe Biden,^[4] owned a drycleaning business.^[5] Her mother is ofJewish descent.^[2][6][7] She was educated at theTatnall School, a private college preparatory school nearWilmington, Delaware.^[8]

Biden worked as an admissions counselor at her alma mater, theTatnall School, and as a guidance counselor atArchmere Academy.^[8] She serves as the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the Beau Biden Foundation For the Protection of Children.^[9][10]

In 1998, she began dating her childhood friendJoseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III, who worked as a federal prosecutor in theUnited States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.^[5][11] The two became engaged during a family Thanksgiving celebration inNantucket.^[10] She married Beau Biden in 2002.^[2] They had two children: daughter Natalie Naomi Biden (b. 2004) and son Robert Hunter Biden II (b. 2006).^[12][13][14] The family lived inWilmington, Delaware, while her husband served as theAttorney General of Delaware.^[15]

Her husband died frombrain cancer in 2015.^[16] Biden maintained a close relationship with other members of theBiden family after her husband's death, encouraging her father-in-law to run in the2016 presidential election,^[17] consulting him before the launch of his2020 presidential campaign and attendingmass with the family atSt. Joseph on the Brandywine.^[18][19]

In 2016, she began a relationship with her brother-in-law,Hunter Biden, who was in the process of going through a separation from his wife,Kathleen Buhle.^[2][20][21] She and Hunter moved toAnnapolis, Maryland, with her children.^[22] They ended their relationship in 2019.^[23] In March 2019,The Key School filed a lawsuit against Biden, stating that she failed to pay $55,740 in tuition for her two children for the 2018–19 school year, seventh and eighth grade students.^[22] The suit was settled in October 2019. In 2024 she married John Hopkins Anning.^[24]
