TheHaliday Island Wildlife Sanctuary (also just known as theHaliday Wildlife Sanctuary) is one of severalwildlife sanctuaries in the nation of India. Located in the state ofWest Bengal, the area is approximately six square kilometers in size. It is a part of the 'Sundarbans Biosphere Reserve',[1] with theSundarbansregion as a whole becoming a 'Biosphere Reserve' officially in 1989.[2] The wildlife-heavy areas there are regarded as anenvironmentally-minded tourist destination.[1][2]
Situated on the riverMatla, many different types of flora and fauna exist within the wildlife sanctuary. Examples includespotted deer andwild boar.Bengal tigers have occasionally visited the area as well.[1]
