Haghorti (Armenian:Հաղորտի) orKendkhurd (Azerbaijani:Kəndxurd) is a village located in theKhojavend District ofAzerbaijan, in the disputed region ofNagorno-Karabakh. Until 2023 it was controlled by the breakawayRepublic of Artsakh. The village had an ethnicArmenian-majority population[2] until theexpulsion of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan following the2023 Azerbaijani offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh.[3]

History

During theSoviet period, the village was a part of theMartuni District of theNagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast.

Historical heritage sites

Historical heritage sites in and around the village include the church ofSurb Astvatsatsin (Armenian:Սուրբ Աստվածածին,lit.'Holy Mother of God') built in 1751.[1]

Economy and culture

The population is mainly engaged inagriculture andanimal husbandry. As of 2015, the village has a municipal building, a house of culture, a secondary school, and a medical centre.[1]

The village has an ethnicArmenian-majority population, had 231 inhabitants in 2005,[4] and 200 inhabitants in 2015.[1]
