Town of ancient Mysia

Hadrianotherae orHadrianutherae orHadrianoutherai (Ancient Greek:Ἁδριανοῦ Θῆραι) was a town ofancient Mysia, on the road fromErgasteria toMiletopolis. It was built by the emperorHadrian to commemorate a successful hunt which he had had in the neighbourhood.[1] Coins from this town issued during the reign of Hadrian onwards are preserved. It seems to have been a place of some note; for it was the see of a bishop, and on its coins a senate is mentioned.[2] No longer a residential see, it remains atitular see of theRoman Catholic Church.[3]

Its site is located nearBalıkesir inAsiatic Turkey.[4][5]
