Habib ibn Muzahir (Arabic:حبيب بن مظاهر الأسدي,romanizedḤabīb ibn Muẓāhir al-Asadī) of theBanu Asad clan, was a companion ofAli,Hasan ibn Ali andHusayn ibn Ali. He was among those inKufa who sent letters to Husayn ibn Ali, inviting him to Kufa. However, upon learning that the people of Kufa had broken their allegiance to Husayn, he left Kufa and joined Husayn. He was killed at the age of 75 while fighting in Husayn's army inKarbala.[1]

Despite his age, Habib was given command of the left flank of Husayn's army, which was divided into three sections: the left flank, the right flank, and thecenter.[2] His tomb is located within theImam Husayn Shrine in the southern porch.[3][4][5]

According to history, Habib fought and killed 62 enemy soldiers before being attacked by Budayl b. Maryam 'Aqfani, who struck him on the head with a sword. Another enemy then hit him with a spear, causing him to fall from his horse, after which Budayl b. Maryam beheaded him.[6]
