Homeobox protein Hox-B1 is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theHOXB1 gene .[ 5] [ 6] [ 7]
This gene belongs to thehomeobox family of genes. The homeobox genes encode a highly conserved family oftranscription factors that play an important role inmorphogenesis in allmulticellular organisms .Mammals possess four similar homeoboxgene clusters , HOXA, HOXB, HOXC and HOXD, located on differentchromosomes , consisting of 9 to 11 genes arranged in tandem. This gene is one of several homeobox HOXB genes located in a cluster onchromosome 17 .[ 7]
HOXB1 has been shown tointeract withPBX1 .[ 8] [ 9]
