HMSCosby was aBuckley-classCaptain-class frigate duringWorld War II, it was named after CaptainPhillips Cosby (1727–1808) ofHMS Robust during theAmerican Revolutionary War.

Originally destined for the US Navy, HMSCosby was provisionally given the name USSReeves (later this name was reassigned toDE 156), however the delivery was diverted to theRoyal Navy before the launch.

HMSCosby served with theNore Command and the Devonport Command earning battle honours for service in theEnglish Channel,North Foreland andNorth Sea.
