HD 24160 is a single[10]star in the equatorialconstellation ofEridanus. It has theBayer designationg Eridani. It is visible to the naked eye with anapparent visual magnitude of 4.17.[1] The distance to HD 24160 can be estimated from its annualparallax shift of14.98 mas,[2] yielding a separation of 218 light years. It is moving further from the Earth with a heliocentricradial velocity of +2 km/s.[5] This object is a coronal member of theUrsa Major Moving Group of stars that share a common motion through space.[11]

At the age of 1.76 billion years old, HD 24160 is anevolvedG-type giant with astellar classification of G7 III,[4] having consumed the hydrogen at itscore and tracked away from themain sequence. It has 2.33[6] times themass of the Sun and has expanded to about 11[7] times theSun's radius. The star is radiating 81.3[6] times theSun's luminosity from its enlargedphotosphere at aneffective temperature of 4,948 K.[6]
