History

[edit]

TheDanish 1st Division clubHerfølge and bankrupt clubKøge Boldklub decided in March 2009 to merge.[3] The club played their first season as a merged club in the2009–10 season of theDanish Superliga.[4] The season ended in relegation.

In the following1st Division season, they finished second and returned to theSuperliga.[5] Following the promotion managerAurelijus Skarbalius left the club for a job as assistant manager ofBrøndby and was replaced byTommy Møller Nielsen.[6] The club's second appearance in theDanish Superliga ended in another relegation.[7]

The2012–13 season started with a series of bad results, and this led to the sacking of Møller Nielsen in September 2012 after a 5–0 defeat againstLyngby.[8] He was replaced by his assistantPer Frandsen, who led the club to two consecutive sixth-place finishes before leaving for a youth job atBrøndby in June 2014.[9]
