Héctor Núñez Bello (8 May 1936 – 19 December 2011)[1] was a Uruguayanfootballer andmanager. He was manager of theUruguay squad that wonCopa América 1995.
Núñez was born inMontevideo and started his playing career at the age of 19 playing forNacional. His good form earned him a chance to play for Uruguay, and he was part of the squad for the1959 Copa América.[2]
He moved to Spain to joinValencia, and he won theFairs Cup in two consecutive seasons with the club. Later in his career he played forMallorca andLevante.
Núñez died in Spain at age 75.
Núñez worked as the manager of a considerable number of clubs in Spain and has also managed inMexican and Uruguayan club football. He was manager of theCosta Rica national team in 1992 and the Uruguay national team between 1994 and 1997, where he led Uruguay to theCopa América 1995 championship.
