Gowar is an extinctindigenous language of Australia. The language was spoken onMoreton Island off the coast of modern-dayBrisbane.[2]

Other spellings areGoowar, Gooar, Guar, Gowr-burra; other namesNgugi (Mugee, Wogee, Gnoogee), Chunchiburri, Booroo-geen-merrie.

It may be related to theDurubalic languages (Bowern 2011) or (along with thePimpama language) to theBandjalangic languages (Jefferies 2011).
