Gunnar Vatnhamar (born 29 March 1995) is aFaroese professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forVíkingur Reykjavík.[1]
In April 2023,Víkingur Reykjavík announced that they had agreed a deal to sign Vatnhamar, who prior to the move had spent his entire career atVíkingur Gøta.[2]
Vatnhamar made his international debut for theFaroe Islands national football team in a friendly 1–1 tie withLatvia on 22 March 2018, coming on as a substitute in the 88th minute.[3] He scored his first goal on November 11, 2020 in a friendly againstLithuania. It was the only goal for the Faroes, who lost 2-1.

Whilst playing in his native Faroe Islands, Vatnhamar worked as a personal trainer while also playing football.[5] His brotherSølvi Vatnhamar also plays football, forVíkingur Gøta and the national team.
