Guillermo Alfonso Maripán Loaysa (Spanish pronunciation:[ɡiˈʝeɾmomaɾiˈpan]; born 6 May 1994) is a Chileanfootballer who plays ascentre-back forSerie A clubTorino and theChile national team.

On 7 July 2017, Maripán moved abroad for the first time in his career after agreeing to a four-year deal withLa Liga sideDeportivo Alavés.[2]

Monaco

On 24 August 2019, Maripán joinedLigue 1 clubMonaco on a five-year deal.[3] His second season in the Monegasque team consolidated him as one of the best defenders inLigue 1: he was designated by the CIES Football Observatory as the best Chilean of the season, and he was also the central defender who scored the most goals.[4] Guillermo Maripán signed his best scoring season in the 2020–21 academic year,[5] and also improved five key aspects in his game that evidenced his sporting growth.[6]

On 29 August 2024, Maripán signed forSerie A clubTorino on a two-year deal.[7]

International career

In 2017, Maripán debuted for theChilean senior squad in afriendly match againstBurkina Faso.[8] On 31 May 2018, he scored his first goal for another friendly match againstRomania in Austria.[9] At the2021 Copa América, he starred in one of the tournament's matches after making a feint toLionel Messi.[10]
