Guamatela is agenus offlowering plants in theorderCrossosomatales.Guamatela is the only genus in the familyGuamatelaceae. The genus comprises a single species, thetype species,Guamatela tuerckheimiiDonn.Sm., anevergreenshrub with a prostrate habit that is native toMexico,Guatemala, andHonduras. The genusGuamatela had formerly been included in the familyRosaceae before theAngiosperm Phylogeny Group placed it in the Guamatelaceae in 2009.[1][2]
