Greenock and Inverclyde is aconstituency of theScottish Parliament (Holyrood) covering most of thecouncil area ofInverclyde. It elects oneMember of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by thefirst past the post method of election. It is also one of ten constituencies in theWest Scotlandelectoral region, which elects sevenadditional members, in addition to the ten constituency MSPs, to produce a form ofproportional representation for the region as a whole.

The seat has been held byStuart McMillan of theScottish National Party since the2016 Scottish Parliament election.

The other nine constituencies of the West Scotland region are:Clydebank and Milngavie,Cunninghame North,Cunninghame South,Dumbarton,Eastwood,Paisley,Renfrewshire North and West,Renfrewshire South andStrathkelvin and Bearsden.

The region covers part of theArgyll and Bute council area, theEast Dunbartonshire council area, theEast Renfrewshire council area, theInverclyde council area,North Ayrshire council area, theRenfrewshire council area and theWest Dunbartonshire council area.

The constituency covers most of Inverclyde, including the main population centres ofGreenock,Gourock andPort Glasgow. The eastern part of Inverclyde, around the village ofKilmacolm being covered by theRenfrewshire North and West constituency.

The Greenock and Inverclyde constituency was created at the same time as the Scottish Parliament, in1999, with the name and boundaries of an existingWestminster constituency. In2005, however, the Westminster (House of Commons) constituency was merged into a newInverclyde constituency.[2]

The constituency boundaries were reviewed ahead of the2011 Scottish Parliament election. The electoral wards used to form Greenock and Inverclyde are listed below:[3]
