Great Bircham is the largest of the three villages that make up thecivil parish ofBircham, in the west of theEnglish county ofNorfolk. The village is located about half a mile south of the village ofBircham Newton, the same distance west of the village ofBircham Tofts,12 miles north-east of the town ofKing's Lynn, and 38 miles north-west of the city ofNorwich.[1]The King's Head is a hotel and bar. In 1931 the parish had a population of 327.[1] On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Bircham.[2]
The villages name means 'homestead/village with newly broken ground'.[3]
