Grant James Holman (born May 31, 2000) is an American professionalbaseballpitcher for theAthletics ofMajor League Baseball (MLB).

Amateur career

When he was 13, Holman played in the2013 Little League World Series, where he threw ano-hitter.[1][2] He attendedEastlake High School inChula Vista, California and playedcollege baseball at theUniversity of California, Berkeley.[3] In 2019, he playedcollegiate summer baseball with theCotuit Kettleers of theCape Cod Baseball League.[4]

Professional career

Holman was drafted by theOakland Athletics in the sixth round, with the 188th overall selection, of the2021 Major League Baseball draft.[5] He signed with the Athletics and made his professional debut with the Single–AStockton Ports. Holman split 2022 between the rookie–levelArizona Complex League Athletics and High–ALansing Lugnuts, compiling an aggregate 1–5 record and 4.75 ERA with 40 strikeouts across41+23 innings pitched.[6]

Holman split the 2023 season between the ACL Athletics, Lansing, and the Double–AMidland RockHounds. In 35 total appearances for the three affiliates, he registered a 4.26 ERA with 60 strikeouts and 3saves over44+13 innings of work.[7]

Holman began the 2024 campaign with Double–A Midland, making 17 scoreless appearances with 24 strikeouts and 6 saves. In June, he was promoted to the Triple–ALas Vegas Aviators with whom he logged an 0.92 ERA with 30 strikeouts over 23 games. On August 16, 2024, Holman was selected to the40-man roster and promoted to the major leagues for the first time.[8] In 18 appearances for Oakland during his rookie campaign, Holman logged a 1-1 record and 4.02 ERA with 16 strikeouts across15+23 innings pitched.

Holman was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas to begin the 2025 season.[9]
