Goshpi Avari

Pakistani sailor

Goshpi Avari is a PakistaniAsian Games gold medalist insailing.[1][2] She won the medal with her husband,Byram, at the1982 Games.[1] She was the first and, until 2010, the only Pakistani woman to have won a gold medal at a major international competition.[3]

Family

Goshpi Avari andByram have three children together, including Xerxes, also an Asian Games competitor for Pakistan.[citation needed] She isParsi.[citation needed]

Sailing

Avari won a gold medal inenterprise classyachting at the1982 Asian Games inNew Delhi, India,[1][2] where she was the only female competitor in the sport.[3]
