Gortakeegan Stadium (Irish:Gort an Chaocháin[1]) is anassociation football venue in the Republic of Ireland based inMonaghan. It has been the home ground of formerLeague of Ireland clubMonaghan United since 1988. The ground has an 528-seater covered stand and an overall capacity of 5,000. Floodlights were added in 1995 and a new stand was officially opened byMick McCarthy in 1996.[2]
The fourteen acre Gortakeegan complex, which includes four floodlit astro turf pitches, is a designatedFAI regional centre.[3][4][5]
In 2000, after Monaghan United secured a sponsorship deal with the building firm, Century Homes, the ground became known asCentury Homes Park. In 2005 after Century Homes was acquired by theKingspan Group, the ground became known asKingspan Century Park. When the sponsorship deal ended the ground reverted to its original name.[2][6]
During the2005 season, whileOriel Park was being redeveloped,Dundalk played many of their home games at Gortakeegan.[7]
Moneghan United underage also play their games at Gortakeegan and it's facilities.
