Gorillaman (Japanese:ゴリラーマン,Hepburn:Gorirāman) is a Japanesemanga series written and illustrated byHarold Sakuishi. It was serialized inKodansha'sseinen manga magazineWeekly Young Magazine from 1988 to 1993, with its chapters collected in 19tankōbon volumes. It was adapted into a two-episodeoriginal video animation (OVA) animated byJ.C.Staff in 1992. A sequel, titledGorillaman 40, was serialized inWeekly Young Magazine from 2020 to 2022. Aspin-off, titledGorillaman 40: Family Arc, was serialized in the same magazine from 2023 to 2024.
In 1990,Gorillaman won the 14thKodansha Manga Award in the general category.
Written and illustrated byHarold Sakuishi,Gorillaman was serialized inKodansha'sseinen manga magazineWeekly Young Magazine from 1988 to 1993.[2] Kodansha collected its chapters in nineteentankōbon volumes, released from April 6, 1989,[3] to October 6, 1993.[4]
For the magazine's 40th anniversary, Sakuishi launched a two-chapter story inWeekly Young Magazine, under the titleGorillaman 40, on October 12 and 17, 2020;[5] it was later serialized in the same magazine from March 28 to August 22, 2022.[1][6] Aspin-off manga, titledGorillaman 40: Family Arc (ゴリラーマン40 ファミリー編,Gorirāman 40 Famirī-hen), was first published as aone-shot inWeekly Young Magazine on October 3, 2022,[7][8] and was later serialized in the same magazine from December 25, 2023,[9] to May 13, 2024.[10]
Kodansha collected theGorillaman 40 chapters in threetankōbon volumes, released from April 6 to September 6, 2022;[11][12] a fourth volume, including the first six chapters ofGorillaman 40: Family Arc, was released on April 5, 2024,[13][10] and the fifth volume is set to be released in July of the same year.[10]
The series was adapted into a two-episodeoriginal video animation (OVA) animated byJ.C.Staff, released on June 25 and December 24, 1992.[14]
