Yukihide Matsuno (松野行秀,Matsuno Yukihide) is a Japaneseprofessional wrestler, better known by hisring nameGorgeous Matsuno (ゴージャス松野,Gōjasu Matsuno), working for the Japaneseprofessional wrestling promotionDDT Pro-Wrestling (DDT).[5]

Matsuno is acomedy wrestler who has a gimmick of acting as an old man wrestling to a funny extent.[6] He made his professional wrestling debut in 2001 at the age of 39. His first documented match was back in the 8th anniversary show of theInternational Wrestling Association of Japan on October 10, 2002, where he teamed up with Yuji Kito andTiger Jeet Singh to face Tatsukuni Asano, Ryo Miyake andThe Great Kabuki in asix-man tag team match.[7] He is known for tenures with variouspromotions such asDragon Gate where he worked in a cross-over event withDDT, theDragon Gate/DDT Dramatic Dream Gate Returns from May 6, 2012, in which he teamed withRich Swann andRyo Jimmy Saito, losing toDon Fujii, Antonio Honda andDanshoku Dino.[8] Matsuno participated in the 2019 Futaritabi Tag Tournament ofMichinoku Pro Wrestling where he teamed up withJinsei Shinzaki, losing toTsutomu Oosugi andTatsuhito Senga in the semi-finals on October 14, 2019.[9]

AtDDT 8th Anniversary: Judgement 9 on March 27, 2005, Matsuno teamed up withDanshoku Dino andMuscle Sakai to defeatAkeomi Nitta,Shuji Ishikawa and Jun Inomata in a six-man tag team match.[10] Matsuno is a formerO-40 Champion, which he got the title atWho's Gonna Top? 2019 on September 29 after defeatingSanshiro Takagi.[11] He eventually lost it 406 days later atDDT TV Show! #11 from November 8, 2020, toToru Owashi.[12] Matsuno also won theKO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship alongsideBrahman Kei andBrahman Shu atGod Bless DDT 2014 on November 30 after defeating T2Hii (Kazuki Hirata,Sanshiro Takagi andToru Owashi).[13] Matsuno is a former multiple timeIronman Heavymetalweight Champion. He competed in afalls count anywhere four-way tag team match to promote the protection of the elderly people fromCOVID-19 in which he teamed up withGabai Ji-chan to defeatKonosuke Takeshita andShunma Katsumata,Chris Brookes and Mike Bailey, andShinya Aoki andMakoto Oishi on March 30, 2020.[14] He also works insingles matches as a sole wrestler, one of these matches being atDDT TV Show! #12 on November 14, 2020, where he fell short toDanshoku Dino.[15]

Personal life

On November 3, 2008, Matsuno collapsed in the toilet of a bar inFukushima, found unconscious by his partner, Junko. Matsuno was rushed to hospital and deemed to have hadcardiac arrest, in addition to suffering from acuteliver failure; the cause of which was deemed to be mixing alcohol with hisanti-depressant medication. Matsuno was medically diagnosed withdepression. Matsuno was given CPR and atracheotomy to save his life, and was able to eventually make a full recovery and return to professional wrestling three years later in 2011 atDDT's Max Bump event inKorakuen Hall.[16][17][18]

Matsuno was a collateral victim of theEast Japan Earthquake and he stated that his home was briefly affected by the natural disaster back in 2011.[19]
