Gonfaron (French pronunciation: [ɡɔ̃faʁɔ̃] ) is acommune in theVar department in theProvence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region , SoutheasternFrance .
Its detached clock tower is topped with an unusual decorativewrought iron frame housing a bell. Gonfaron is the home ofVillage des tortues [fr ] , a rescue and breeding centre fortortoises .
It is served by Gonfaron Station on theMarseille–Ventimiglia railway .
Motor racing teamAutomobiles Gonfaronnaises Sportives was based in the town; it competed inFormula One from 1986 to 1991.
