Goema, also writtenGhomma andGomma, is a type ofhand drum used in theCape Minstrel Carnival and inCape Jazz inCape Town. The word has also come to describe a hybrid musical genre which itself is one of the influences onCape Jazz music.[1] Notable goema musicians include Mac McKenzie,Hilton Schilder,Errol Dyers andAlex van Heerden.[2]
