Gmina Tarnów Opolski (German:Gemeinde Tarnau) is a ruralgmina (administrative district) inOpole County,Opole Voivodeship, in south-westernPoland. Its seat is the village ofTarnów Opolski, which lies approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) south-east of the regional capitalOpole.
The gmina covers an area of 81.6 square kilometres (31.5 sq mi), and as of 2019, its total population was 9,580. Since 2007, the commune, like much of the area, has been officially bilingual in Polish and German, as a large German population remained in the area after it was transferred to Polish control followingWorld War II.
The commune contains the villages and settlements ofTarnów Opolski,Kąty Opolskie,Kosorowice,Miedziana,Nakło,Przywory,Raszowa andWalidrogi.
Gmina Tarnów Opolski is bordered by the city ofOpole and by the gminas ofChrząstowice,Gogolin,Izbicko andPrószków.
