Gmina Poniec is an urban-ruralgmina (administrative district) inGostyń County,Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-centralPoland. Its seat is the town ofPoniec, which lies approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) south-west ofGostyń and 72 km (45 mi) south of the regional capitalPoznań.
The gmina covers an area of 132.32 square kilometres (51.1 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 7,866 (out of which the population of Poniec amounts to 2,875, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 4,991).
