Glenn Schuurman (Dutch pronunciation:[ɡlɛnˈsxyːrmɑn]; born 16 April 1991) is a Dutch formerfield hockey player who played as a defender or midfielder. He played a total 159 matches from 2012 until 2021 for theDutch national team and scored three goals.[1]

He participated at the2016 Summer Olympics.[2]

Club career

He was born inBoxtel in the Netherlands, where he started playing hockey for the local hockey club MEP. In 2009 he transferred toBloemendaal where he won the Dutch national title in 2010. In the2018–19 season, he won his second national title with Bloemendaal by defeatingKampong in the championship final.[3] The lost championship final againstPinoké in the2022–23 season was his last match in the Bloemendaal team as he retired.[4]

International career

Schuurman made his debut for theDutch national team in 2012 in afriendly match againstEngland. The following tournament, the2012 Champions Trophy, they finished second and he won his first medal with the national team. At the2018 Champions Trophy inBreda he played his 100th match for the Dutch national team.In June 2019, he was selected in the Netherlands squad for the2019 EuroHockey Championship.[5] They won the bronze medal by defeatingGermany 4–0.[6] After the2020 Summer Olympics, he announced his retirement from international hockey.[7]
