Glenn Eichler (bornc. 1956) is an American comedy writer. He is best known for co-creating theMTV adult animated seriesDaria, which originally aired from 1997 to 2002. Eichler started out as an editor forNational Lampoon magazine. He then worked as story editor for theMTV television showsBeavis and Butt-head andThe Maxx. Apart fromDaria, Eichler also producedHey Joel forVH1. He has also written for such shows asRugrats,Bratz,Married... with Children, andThe Wrong Coast, a stop-action animation mini-series for theAmerican Movie Classics cable channel. He currently writes forThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert onCBS after also writing forStephen Colbert inComedy Central'sThe Colbert Report.
Eichler is the author of the humor booksMush!: Sled Dogs with Issues,Stuffed!,Bill andHillary's Twelve-Step Guide to Recovery (a political satire), andDr. Katz's Me At a Glance.
Because he was executive producer ofDaria, he is sometimes claimed to be the creator of the characterDaria Morgendorffer; this was actually the work ofBeavis and Butt-head writer David Felton, with some input fromMike Judge.[2]
Born inThe Bronx, New York City and raised inNew Rochelle, New York, Eichler produced a four-page joke newspaper as a pre-teen called theWykagyl Wombat. He graduated fromAmerican University, where he majored in American literature and worked as a writer for a trade publication before finding work at theNational Lampoon. Since 2000, he and his family have been residents ofMontclair, New Jersey.[3]
