GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan Limited is a Pakistanipharmaceutical company which is a subsidiary of British companyGSK.[2] It is the largest pharmaceutical company in Pakistan.

History

The company started its operations in Pakistan as Glaxo Laboratories Pakistan Ltd and was listed on theKarachi Stock Exchange in 1951.[3]

GSK Pakistan equation was formed whenBeecham, Glaxo Welcome and Smith Kline, all having a big name in the pharmaceutical market and that were separate entities before, merged in 2002.[4]

In December 2008, GSK Pakistan acquired operations ofBristol Myers Squibb in Pakistan for approximatelyUS$36.5 million.[5]

In December 2010, the company acquiredStiefel Laboratories operations inPakistan.[6]

In 2015, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Pakistan Limited (GSKCH) was demerged from GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan Limited (GLAXO).[7] In 2016, GSKCH started operations as an independent company.[7] A year later, in 2017, GSKCH got listed onPSX.[7] In 2022, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Pakistan Limited was renamed toHaleon Pakistan.[8]

GLAXO (GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan Limited) manufactures and markets a wide variety of prescription medicines and vaccines.[7]

GSKCH (GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Pakistan Limited), now Haleon Pakistan, sells over-the-counter medicines and consumer products.[7]
