Glaucis is a genus ofhummingbird in the familyTrochilidae.
The genusGlaucis was introduced in 1831 by the German zoologistFriedrich Boie.[1] Thetype species was designated as therufous-breasted hermit byGeorge Robert Gray in 1840.[2][3] The genus name is from theAncient Greekglaukos meaning "blue-grey", "glaucous" or "pale green".[4]
