Giuliano Bonfante (6 August 1904 – 9 September 2005)[1] was an Italian linguist and expert on the language of theEtruscans and other Italic peoples. He was professor of linguistics at theUniversity of Genoa and then at theUniversity of Turin.[2][3]
Bonfante was born inMilan, the son of juristPietro Bonfante [it].[4] He collaborated with his daughter,Larissa Bonfante, in his study of theEtruscan language. He became a member of theAccademia dei Lincei in 1958.
He died in Rome.[5]
