Giovane Farinazzo Gavio (born 7 September 1970), known asGiovane, is a Brazilian retiredvolleyball coach and former player who was a member of theBrazil men's national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona by defeating the Netherlands (3-0) in the final.[1][2][3]
Playing as an outside hitter, Gavio competed in three consecutiveSummer Olympics, starting in 1992.[1] Later on he started a career inbeach volleyball.[1] As of the present day, he is the head coach ofSuperliga's most recent champions,SESI São Paulo. He is the only Brazilian player (and second overall, afterJavier Weber) to win theSuperliga both as player and coach.[1]
In 2021, Gavio was inducted into theInternational Volleyball Hall of Fame.[1]
