Giannis Arabatzis (Greek:Γιάννης Αραμπατζής; born 28 May 1984) is a Greek professionalfootballer who played as agoalkeeper.
Arabatzis began his professional career atAEK Athens. He made his debut underDušan Bajević in the derby againstPanathinaikos. After his impressive performances, Arabatzis has earned himself a spot in the AEK starting line-up after five years on the bench forcingSebastian Saja as second choice. In 2011, he was the first choice for the position of goalkeeper, leavingDimitrios Konstantopoulos out of the first eleven. Moreover, he was given the MVP award for his performance againstErgotelis. After the departure ofNikolaos Georgeas, Arabatzis became the eldest player of the team having completed ten years in the team.[3]
In 2013 AEK Athens were relegated to thethird division and thus his contract with the club was terminated.
On 21 August 2013 Arabatzis signed one-year deal with theCypriot First Division side,Ermis Aradippou.[4] With his performances he helped the team to participate in the next season'sUEFA Europa League Play-Offs.
On 23 July 2014 Arabatzis signed a one-year contract withAstra Giurgiu.[5]
After an unstable season in Romania, Arabatzis returned to Greece and signed one-year contract withKerkyra inFootball League (Greece Second Division). After some attractive performances he helped Kerkyra to get the promotion in theSuper League Greece and thus the club renewed his contract for another year.
On 15 September 2017, he returned to his former clubErmis Aradippou.[6]
On 29 October 2019, Arabatzis joinedAgios Nikolaos.[7]
