Chả lụa Saigon: [ca᷉ giò lụa Hanoi: [zɔ̂ lit. ' banana leaf pork sausage ' is a type of sausage in Vietnamese cuisine , made ofpork and traditionally steamed while wrapped inbanana leaves .[ 1]
Production and consumption [ edit ] Chả lụa is made of lean pork, potato starch, garlic, ground black pepper, and fish sauce.[ 2] [ 1]
The sausage is widely applicable, being eaten inbánh cuốn bánh mì xôi
Variants include:
chả bì – containing shredded pork skinchả bò [ 3] chả chiên – where the entire sausage is deep-fried (instead of steamed, omitting the banana leaf wrap)chả quế –chả chiên that is seasoned with powdered cinnamon before frying[ 4] chảHuế – contains whole black peppercorns and more garlic[ 5] Look up
