Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino (22 September 1832 – 23 March 1913), was aRomanian politician and lawyer, one of the leadingConservative Party policymakers. He was an aristocrat and member of theHouse of Cantacuzino.

Among Cantacuzino's political posts were that of Minister of Public Instruction, president of the Chamber of Deputies, and President of the Senate.[1] He twice served as thePrime Minister of Romania: between 23 April 1899 and 19 July 1900, and between 4 January 1906 and 24 March 1907. He resigned from office after failing to put down thelarge-scale peasants' revolt. He was the 20th Romanian politician to serve as Prime Minister.[citation needed]

The wealthy Cantacuzino was born into the aristocraticCantacuzino family, ofPhanariote origins. He built theCantacuzino Palace ofBucharest and theCantacuzino Castle ofBușteni. He was the father ofGrigore Gheorghe Cantacuzino andMihail G. Cantacuzino, as well as the father-in-law ofAlexandrina Pallady-Cantacuzino.[citation needed]
