Gerd Türk is a German classicaltenor.
Gerd Türk received his first musical training as a choir boy at the cathedral ofLimburg. He studied in Frankfurt and then at theSchola Cantorum Basiliensis withRichard Levitt andRené Jacobs, continuing in master classes withErnst Haefliger andKurt Equiluz.[1]
In the field ofhistorically informed performance he has worked withFrans Brüggen,Philippe Herreweghe andJordi Savall. He was a founding member of the ensembleCantus Cölln and has collaborated with the Ensemble Gilles Binchois under Dominique Vellard specialising in Medieval music. He has appeared as theEvangelist in the Passions ofJohann Sebastian Bach, took part in the project ofTon Koopman to record Bach's complete vocal works with theAmsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir and also in the complete recording by theBach Collegium Japan underMasaaki Suzuki.[1]
Since 2000 he has been teaching at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis[1] and master classes at the University of Fine Arts in Tokyo.
